PERSONAL STATEMENT

When life introduces us to complex experiences and emotions, we may find difficulty in processing the residual trauma or feel stuck in it. Using Integrative Somatic Therapy Practice, we move through what is not only conscious, but also explore what is held by the unconscious mind. This approach to somatic therapy deepens our understanding of how the body holds trauma, bringing awareness before allowing release.

Peace is the result of retraining your mind to process life as it is, rather than as you think it should be.

SOMATIC THERAPY
(Integrative Somatic Therapy Practice, ISTP)™
Counselling & Psychotherapy
Yoga & Bodywork
Trauma can be one of the worst experiences any person can face. It can leave a scar that can impact every single aspect of our life. Through my work in somatic therapy, I have learned that we tend to ignore our bodies and suppress what we feel, instead of acknowledging and listening to what our body needs.
That’s when tension, anxiety and even physiological illnesses manifest, because we are not releasing all of that negative energy from our body, we store it and we suffer from that. We are only able to accomplish this emotional release when we are feeling safe, protected, validated, ready and open to connect with our body.
It is through somatic work that we learn how to stay attuned with our body and release all of the accumulated pain. I will be here to support you when we go to an uncomfortable and unpleasant place in the past, so we can process those painful emotions. I do this by keeping you grounded, restorative yoga postures and facilitating breath and body movement, which is a way of helping body work.

As a Registered Social Worker (RSW), I offer talk therapy services to support your healing journey and trauma processing. I am currently a Registered Social Worker in multiple provinces in Canada including Ontario, New Brunswick, and Nova Scotia. As a licensed RSW (BSW) I may provide a combination of talk therapy and ISTP ™ services with ability to bill select insurance companies. I recommend verifying your insurance plan details for RSW-BSW coverage prior to booking and will provide a receipt for submission.

I currently offer primarily virtual services, in addition to in-person sessions in Halifax, Nova Scotia. My education history includes initial studies and work experience in the medical field prior to transitioning to a mental health focus. I completed my Bachelor of Social Work degree at the University of Windsor, ON, before stumbling on the ISTP program through Ratha Chek after an intuition lead journey out west.

The ISTP practice has since become a main focus of mine passionately included in my private practice, as it aligns with my belief and experience regarding the body’s fascinating ways of protecting self through challenging, unexpected chapters in life. Using Ratha Chek’s ISTP method, we work together through releasing what the body no longer needs to store in order to heal
