PERSONAL STATEMENT
As an ISTP therapist, I holistically guide you through your healing process to recover your “inner compass”. You become empowered by learning techniques such as; relaxation or yoga postures, mindfulness, breathwork, bodywork and Somatic body-oriented processing. Once the trauma is released from the body into consciousness I use talk therapy to resolve this trauma that was unconsciously disrupting the mind.
My mind is a garden, my thoughts are its seeds, my harvest will be either flowers or weeds

GETTING TO KNOW ME
My life as a therapist has come full circle. I started out taking Psychology at SFU in 1986 but switched my major to business. Over the next several years I worked in the business realm; corporate finance, law, insurance, venture capital and financial planning, and ran my own business for 25 years, however, I always lamented never becoming a therapist.
As I was now much older, I did not want to return to a typical university setting where I would have to take courses that were irrelevant to becoming a psychotherapist and lengthening the amount of time I would have to attend classes. I only wanted to take psychology courses and nothing else. An opportunity presented itself through Stenberg College, which offered exactly what I was looking for and provided a place for me to complete my practicum through Moving Forward Family Services (MFFS).
This is also where I met my first Supervisor, Ratha Check who told me about her Integrative Somatic Therapy Practice ™ Learning about Somatic Therapy would completely change the trajectory of my professional life, to the point where I knew that one day, I would work with her group at the Body Mind Soul Healing Center. Today, with a deep heart of gratitude, I am delighted to say I have joined the Center and work with other gifted individuals who are making great strides in the field of Somatic Therapy.
My curiosity about why people behave and act as they do has been alive in me since I was a small child. How and why people did or did not recover from traumatic events was also deeply concerning for me. I became a therapist to help people address and heal their spiritual, emotional and physical brokenness; to learn how to self-regulate and soothe themselves – in essence, to heal.
My initial approach is through Integrated Somatics Therapy; which utilizes mindfulness, breathwork and restorative body postures to expel pent-up trauma and release what is unconscious in the mind into consciousness. From there, I use talk therapy to move clients through these traumatic events, reconnect them to their inner wisdom which allows their healing to take place.
These events can be stored in the body and will appear in many different forms of pain or illness that do not necessarily have medical rationale to support it. Somatic work reconnects the highway between the mind and body to restore a healthy communication and flow. It is truly an honour to accompany people on their healing journey.
Let me lead you back to your inner guidance system. To make an appointment, or if you have any questions about how Somatics could help unlock your trauma and reconnect you to a healthier well-being, kindly contact me here to book a consultation.
Let your healing journey begin. Relief is only a booking away!
Your body is your most powerful truth teller. It absorbs everything and if you don't give it a chance to "speak" to you, it will get your attention through chronic pain, fatigue, sleep disturbances, digestive distress and more
