MY COUNSELLING PRACTICE
I invite you practice a few deep breaths as you reflect on aspects of your journey that led you to this page. Have you been feeling stressed, anxious, or overwhelmed? Exhausted or drained? Perhaps seeking to to learn new coping tools or wanting to develop your self-care practices?
When we bottle up emotions and feel disconnected to both ourselves and others it can be difficult to access healing, recovery, and growth. Counselling can provide a space to press pause from busyness or turmoil. Seeking a safe space to rest. reflect, and to feel restored.
I am a Registered Clinical Counsellor, Integrative Somatic Therapist, Registered 200-hour Yoga Teacher, and certified in Ayurvedic Nutrition. Additionally, I am a First Nations (Cree) woman with mixed European ancestry. My approach is trauma-informed, neurodiversity-informed, and holistic. I invite you connect and to book a consultation.

PERSONAL STATEMENT

In our sessions, I will provide a safe space for you to feel heard and understood. As we build our connection, I offer evidence-based tools and guidance crafted to meet your needs and goals. Sessions may also include body-based practices for relaxation or the release of body stored trauma. I strive to provide a comfortable space for you to connect with your breath, body, and emotions. I offer virtual and in-person sessions for somatic, talk therapy, as well as integrative restorative yoga groups at the Body Mind Soul Healing Centre.

“In order to change, people need to become aware of their sensations and the way that their bodies interact with the world around them. Physical self-awareness is the first step in releasing the tyranny of the past.”

YOGA & BODYWORK
(Integrative Yoga & Bodywork)
This practice is an appropriate choice for those who need something gentle yet effective for bringing the body into balance and reducing stress. Therapeutic Yoga is a deeply meditative experience - it provides you with an opportunity to step away from the busyness of life and access the deeper wisdom that resides within you.
I assist you to access and release tensions held in tight muscles and the emotions associated with the tension. Hands-on healing is applied to areas of the body that feel stuck or tight so that energy can flow through various parts of the body that have remained stuck and frozen, sometimes for many years.

GET TING TO KNOW ME

Throughout my life, I have wanted to help other people. As a teenager and into my adulthood, I have provided a listening ear for others who gravitated towards my gentle and calm presence. I have lived experience supporting family and friends throughout their challenges with mental and emotional health. This sparked a passion to continue to support others.

I attended the University of Calgary and received a degree in English, with a double minor in Indigenous Studies, and Community Rehabilitation and Disability Studies in 2014. I then worked as a Support Worker for adults with developmental and cognitive disabilities. Within the six years of being a Support Worker, I had opportunities to accompany individuals I supported to their counselling sessions. I remember the moment I knew I wanted to work towards becoming a counsellor. I felt honoured to witness someone’s healing journey, and desired to provide meaningful support in this way.

I attended Athabasca University and received my Masters of Counselling Psychology in 2020. During my studies, I moved from Alberta to BC. I completed my practicum with Moving Forward Family Services in BC, where I had the opportunity to be trained in Ratha Chek’s formerly named Mindfulness-Based Somatic Therapy – which is now known as Integrative Somatic Therapy. I continued to engage with training from this powerful and healing modality and am honoured to be an Associate Counsellor at the Body Mind Soul Healing Centre. Prior to becoming an Associate Counsellor and launching into private practice, I worked as a counsellor for the Elizabeth Fry Society.

I am a Registered Clinical Counsellor, Canadian Certified Counsellor, Integrative Somatic Therapist, Registered 200-hour Yoga Teacher, and certified in Ayurvedic Nutrition. Additionally, I am a First Nations (Cree) woman with mixed European ancestry. I am also a wife and a mother. My approach is trauma-informed, neurodiversity-informed, and holistic. I invite you to connect and to book a session.

“To allow ourselves to be truly in touch with where we already are, no matter where that is, we have got to pause in our experience long enough to let the present moment sink in; long enough to actually feel the present moment, to see it in its fullness, to hold it in awareness and thereby come to know and understand it better.”
