Therapeutic Yoga Session

Investment: $200 CAD (90 min)

Therapeutic yoga is a self-loving practice, an opportunity to honour and nurture the body. It is a blend of Restorative Yoga (supported postures), Gentle Yoga, Breath Work, and Meditation that releases the body from the fight or flight response caused by life’s everyday stresses and traumatic events. A yin practice encourages the attitude of acceptance and helps us leave behind our yang need for constant striving action.

In brief tranquil moments when the senses are relaxed and responsive, when the heart is easy and the mind light, we can hear the voice of silent space speaking... awareness respond, and the blessing of healing and knowledge flows forth

Therapeutic Yoga is practiced by those who would like to add this modality to their treatment plan. It is done one-on-one in my office during counselling sessions.

Therapeutic Yoga is a particular effective practice for those recovering from living with psychological or physical injuries and illnesses. This practice is an appropriate choice for those who need something gentle yet effective for bringing the body into balance and reducing stress. Therapeutic Yoga is a deeply meditative experience ~ it provides the opportunity to step away from the busyness of life and access the deeper wisdom that resides within us.

During a Therapeutic Yoga session, I assist individuals to access and release tensions held in tight muscles and the emotions associated with the tension. Hands-on healing are applied to areas of the body that feel stuck or tight so that energy can flow through various parts of the body that have remained stuck and frozen, sometimes for many years.

Flight, flight and/or freeze responses are released by restorative postures, deep breathing, and slow awareness of body movements.  Emotions connected to the mobilized body tension begin to surface. You are supported to express whatever comes and to stay fully connect to these expressions for deep releases.

Mindfulness is used as a practice  to support you to develop your own felt-sense and resources, integrating all that has happened in the session.

The posture becomes perfect when the effort of achieving it vanishes
